ANALYSIS - Artifact 3: Task Analysis

The foundation of a systematic approach to designing instruction is a thorough task analysis. In the following example, I conducted such an analysis prior to designing training for new scanner operators.

Context
  • This analysis was conducted in January 2006 within the scope of my ISD internship project which I was able to complete as part of my current duties as Technical Operations Supervisor of Assessment Services, APPS, Florida State University. The internship was supervised by Dr. Bonnie Armstrong.

Conditions
  • To perform the analysis, I observed the lead scanner at work in addition to my own subject matter expertise.
  • The project had to be completed within the agreed timeframe of the internship.
  • All graphics and content were created by me personally.
Scope
  • The analysis was used as the basis to create systematic scanning training.
  • The training has been tested and evaluated and is currently in use at Assessment Services.
Role
  • I personally completed all phases of the project, including the analysis presented in this artifact.
