COMMUNICATION - Artifact 2: Dissemination Strategy

Diffusion of innovations is a critical aspect of instructional design that is all too often overlooked. But even the best solutions cannot be effective unless their use is promoted and users are eased into the change. The following is an example of a dissemination strategy for an electronic performance support system.

Context
  • This dissemination strategy was designed as a class project for EME6636, Change Management, taught by Dr. D. Ely in Spring 2005.
  • The strategy was used to promote the use of a new and improved course evaluation system that had been launched two years earlier and had been enriched with various tools for administrators.

Conditions
  • I created the design and the presentation of the model in order to communicate the strategy o the constituents.
  • The timetable for the delivery of the product was dictated by key events such as the Council of Deans, as well as deadlines set in the course syllabus.
Scope
  • The strategy was implemented and continues to provide the basis for dissemination used in our office.
Role
  • As the Technical Operations Supervisor and project manager of the course evaluation system, I was responsible for the design and implementation of the dissemination strategy.
  • I personally created the planned communication components (with the exception of the e-Brownbag which was not implemented) and have given the corresponding presentations.
