MANAGEMENT & IMPLEMENTATION - Artifact 1: Project Proposal

Before starting on a performance improvement project, a need and justification for the project has to be identified and a project proposal must be submitted for approval. The example proposes a performance system analysis.

Context
  • This proposal was created in September 2005 for the Tallahassee-Leon Community Animal Service Center (TLCASC).
  • The project was a requirement for EME6691, Performance Systems Analysis, taught by Dr. A. Darabi.

Conditions
  • Our team of three graduate students worked collaboratively on this document. We had access to employees and customers of TLCASC and reviewed documentation and business records.
  • The timeline was dictated by the class syllabus.
Scope
  • The proposal was received very well by the client and the team was given green light for the subsequent analysis.
Role
  • I was the project leader for this project.
  • Within the scope of my responsibilities, I created the project plan, assigned team roles and tasks, scheduled all customer interactions, and was the primary point of contact for the customer.
  • Due to unforeseen circumstances, I ended up writing most of the text in this proposal based on the research conducted by the team, and I also created most of the charts, models, and tables.
